About AbilityWorks ATX
An IMDB-style guide to disability employment in Austin, Texas.
Purpose
Americans with disabilities are employed at far lower rates than people without disabilities, even in fast-growing job markets like Austin. The information that could help is scattered across state agencies, federal job boards, nonprofit filings, and employer websites. AbilityWorks ATX pulls that information together into three connected models: employers, job and training programs, and disability employment services.
Intended users: job seekers with disabilities and their families, vocational rehabilitation counselors and case managers, and community members who want to help by volunteering their time, mentoring with their professional talent, or donating to the organizations doing this work.
What we found by integrating the data: the same few organizations show up across all three models. Workforce Solutions and Vocational Rehabilitation fund training on the state's Eligible Training Providers List, nonprofits like Goodwill run both training and job placement, and employers hire graduates of those programs. A job seeker who starts at any one of them can reach the others, and a volunteer or donor can strengthen that whole pipeline.
